Educational Programmes

The Pet Education Trust believes that through targeted activities based around caring for a pet, young children will learn important life skills that will help with their individual development and understanding of others. Being responsible for the well-being and care of another living thing, will help them grow in confidence, learn about responsibility and learn how to their behaviour and actions can affect those around them.

We want to encourage schools to have pets in classrooms. But we know that this isn’t an easy achievement as cut-backs and red tape make it harder to get funding. To help, the Pet Education Trust has developed funding possibilities along with in-depth activities that will assist to educate young children on the treatment, care and needs of different pets. Through the range of educational programs, children will benefit from hands-on experience, training and activities that will not only provide necessary life skills but in-depth knowledge and a clear understanding on the different breeds and species of pets.
