Lauded by Simon Cowell as the best dancing dog he has ever seen, Pudsey will be making his début at The Pet Show at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire in July.

The runaway winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2012 will be adding a bit of celebrity sparkle to the launch of the two-day animal extravaganza set to attract more than 20,000 people.

Britain’s favourite alternative dance duo will officially open the show before performing a routine. Pudsey and his owner Ashleigh Butler will also sign copies of Pudsey: My Autobidography – a book charting Pudsey’s early life before he found fame and fortune.

Since winning Britain’s Got Talent last year, Ashleigh and Pudsey’s showbiz career has gone from strength to strength headlining the Royal Variety Performance in November, making an appearance on a number of hit TV shows including America’s Got Talent and recently making the announcement that they will be heading for the big screen in a film about their rise to success.

Describing the film to be produced by Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, Ashleigh, 18 said: “It’s all incredible really. I know that I will get emotional when I see Pudsey up on the cinema screen.”

Ashleigh began training dogs from the age of five before winning the television variety show with Pudsey. The early years saw Pudsey becoming the first dog in England to be an agility champion and top in canine freestyle.

“I’ve grown up with pets all my life and see the direct benefits associated with owning a pet. I’m delighted to be attending a show primarily aimed at families and pet lovers of all ages”, said Ashleigh.

The Pet Show Director, Ian Sear said: “With a movie on the horizon, we’re delighted that Ashleigh and Pudsey will be taking time out of their busy schedule to make an appearance at The Pet Show.”

“Ashleigh and Pudsey have taken the world by storm since they won Britain’s Got Talent so it’s fantastic news that they will be taking the opportunity to go back to their roots and perform on a local level.”

The Pet Show is set be the UK’s largest multi pet show and will take place on the weekend of July 20th – 21st attracting pet lovers and families from right across the UK.

Ashleigh and Pudsey will perform on both Saturday and Sunday and there will be opportunities to have photos taken with the duo and even take part in a meet and greet.

“The show will be split into six sections, each section representing a popular family pet. With estimates that 48% of UK households have at least one pet, this show will be a real head turner,” added Ian Sear.

Joe explained: “Firstly, I was looking for a way to maintain the fresh tastiness of our specially formulated range; secondly, we listened to our customers’ feedback, especially those purchasing our 7.5kg bags, who were constantly hiding their bags to stop their wilful companions helping themselves between meals.”

The solution, which was showcased at Crufts this year, is a clever and sturdy zip-lock resealable top which is fitted to the full range and all sizes (1.3kg and 7.5kg).

Throughout National Pet Month, the Bella Moss Foundation (BMF) have issued some key advice for pet owners on the responsible use of antibiotics. Continue reading →

Throughout National Pet Month (7th April to 7th May), the Bella Moss Foundation (BMF) have issued some key advice for pet owners on the responsible use of antibiotics.

Jill Moss, President of the BMF said: “Raising awareness about antimicrobials and antibiotics is a key part of improving the health of people and animals. The Bella Moss Foundation believes that the public and health professionals from all areas must work together in order to achieve a reduction in resistant infections.”

Levels of inappropriate antibiotic use are directly related to the development of multiple-resistant bacteria such as MRSA, which cause serious infections. Not only this, but antibiotics can have severe side-effects; such as “super-infection” (antibiotics ‘kill off’ all the good bacteria, and infection ones can take over), allergic or breed-specific reactions, and direct drug toxicity problems. Antibiotics are not always even required – many conditions can be treated without antibiotics, or with localised antibiotic use only.

It is important to keep pets healthy but vets often feel pressured into prescribing antibiotics even when they are not required, it is important for pet owners not let their desire to see their pet treated cause unnecessary use of inappropriate medication.

Communication between pet owners and veterinarians is very important in dealing with infections.

Case study pet owner Louise Kirby
“My cat and dog both had MRSA. Through the help of BMF they have survived and I now know to ask my vet if an infection is suspected to repeat identification swabs before using broad spectrum antibiotics.”
